How to Apply for Study and Study Permit?

The following five steps will help you understand the process of application for the course you want and for study permit which is compulsory for the study.

Understand the Requirements

The first step is to know the requirements and documents you need to fulfil for a higher study in Canada. There will be many such as course fees, travel documents, letter of motivation, recommendation letter, research proposal, etc. Requirements may vary depending on the courses, colleges, and even provinces. Understand the requirements and list out them in order fulfil them.  

Think About the Finance

This is more important. If you are from a family with insufficient financial support, you will have to think about the fund to support you study and living in Canada. You need to have sufficient money in the bank while landing in the country. Also, you will be asked to pay the fee at least for the first semester at the time of admission. Arranging scholarships or refundable loans will help you meet these requirements. After arriving, you will be able to work and find money for living.  

Identify the Course and University

PTE Academic, C1 Advanced, and TOEFL iBT are also accepted.

Apply and Wait for Offer

Every university allows you apply online. If the application is successful and you confirm the interest, the university will send an offer letter or acceptance letter.   

Apply for Study Permit

After getting acceptance letter from the university, you need to apply for Canada Study Permit which is student visa. You can apply online or visiting your local visa application centre. You will be asked to submit some documents along with application such as letter of acceptance, education transcripts/certificates, proof of financial support and funds, and language proficiency test score. Once you receive the visa, it is time to travel!

Post graduate Work Permit

Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is an open work permit given to international students in Canada. It allows them to work anywhere in the country for any employer and gain valuable Canadian work experience which is required for permanent residence. To be eligible for PGWP, students need to be graduated from a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI).

PGWPs are valid for between eight months to three years. You will have to apply for it within 180 days after getting the final marks. A course of 8-month duration or more is necessary to apply. If the course duration is less than 8 months, you are not eligible for application. If duration of the course is less than 2 years, the PGWP will be in equivalent duration as the course. In other words, if the duration is 10 months, the permit will be also for 10 months. If the duration is 2 years or more, PGWP will be for 3 years.
